5 Life-Changing Productivity Tools For Busy Moms
1. Simplified Planner
The Simplified Planner by Emily Ley is my home and work bible. I go nowhere without it. Trust me on this one, I’ve tried several planners over the last 10 years and this is the only one that gives me the solutions I’m looking for. Daily, weekly, monthly, menu, like the usual planners but what sets The Simplified Planner apart is that it has monthly simplicity tips to help us manage our day to day schedules.
Emily is a busy mom of 3 just like me, a work at home mom as well so she understands the stress of balancing everyday productivity.
This is the planner that I use to plan our yearly trips, vacations, keep track of family member’s birthdays, plan parties, etc.
2. Todoist
The todoist is an app, there’s a free version which is enough for me and there is a premium version for about $3 a month. Let me just start by saying that this is a very powerful productivity app. You can brain dump everything you need to do today, tomorrow, next week, next December, and all into the next few years if you wish.
My favorite part of this app is that I have it on multiple devices; my computers (both mac and windows), I have it on multiple phones and I can add a to-do item on one device or check off something and it syncs everywhere I have it installed.
This app is what I use daily to stay on track with everything: cooking, household chores, paying bills, errands, appointments, reminders, and more.
3. Google Keep
Google Keep is another free tool I use on a daily basis. In fact, I use it on an hourly basis lol. Think post-it notes but on a digital level. You can create a ‘note’ for anything; recipes, projects, to-do lists, passwords, links you save online, menu, ANYTHING!
I used to use Evernote and swore I wouldn’t use anything else until I discovered how much easier Google Keep is.
The best part, it’s accessible on all of my devices. Again we’re looking at tools to help you with productivity and you can’t beat Google when it comes to that.
4. Google Calendar
Another free tool we use as a family is Google Calendar. Just type Google Calendar on your computer and you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Here is how I use it as WAHM; I create different calendars for different facets of my life.
- One calendar for my blogging schedule.
- One calendar for my kid’s school schedule.
- One calendar for scheduling appointments. (I also share this with my husband by inviting him to the calendar).
- One calendar for my work-outs.
- One calendar for holidays.
I color code them and then combine them to see everything at once. Amazing right? You can create alarms, notifications and more with Google Calendars too.
If you’re wanting more benefits from Google Calendar, check out this post from Hubspot.
5. Dropbox
Dropbox is an online cloud storage app. The benefits of Dropbox can be amazing for busy moms and dads; first and foremost I have been with them for over 7 years now. I can store, organize, and find any photo I need across all my devices. You can create folders and back up the pics directly from your phone or computer. I’ve set my phone camera to auto back-up so I don’t have to do it manually. If I ever lost my phone or my computer crashes I never have to worry about losing those birthday photos of my kids last year.
I also have a blog and I’m an Instagram Influencer as well so companies pay me to take photos for them. I use Dropbox to share these images with those companies. I can also share files and folders with others privately or have them download it by inviting them to a particular folder.
Think about your kid’s birthday pictures or wedding pictures how precious they are…. or simply the first time you recorded your baby’s first steps. Dropbox helps you store those memories in a convenient way that is easily accessible whenever you need them.
