Holiday Traditions
Who else loves the Christmas season?! This time of year brings out my holly jolly side. Even more so since I’ve had little ones around. It’s been very important to me and my husband that we have some family traditions. Some that we’ve each has since our own childhoods, and some we’ve created for our little family.
Our first tradition we adopted started the year Jeremy and I got married. We went to the State Fair that year and stopped at a cute little booth full of Christmas ornaments. We bought one to commemorate our first Christmas as a married couple. We go back each year and add to our collection. I love choosing a new one each year and watching our family story through these decorations.
A more recent tradition is our Christmas Cookie Day. My mom, my sisters and I (with the “help” of the little ones) make all the baked goods we can in one sitting! It’s by far the messiest and most deliciousΒ day of the year.
And of course, the annual cutting down of our Christmas tree. We always go the day after Thanksgiving and hunt down the perfect Scotch Pine. My goal is green and fluffy. The girls want the tallest one they can find. My husband wants a squirrel-free tree. Thankfully, all criteria have been met.
