It is with great delight that I introduce my friend Saaraa. This is a special post: Living With Food Allergies – Saaraa’s story. Saaraa isn’t a blogger, she’s a SAHM living in New York with her husband Neil and her 2 beautiful children Hannah 8, and Adam 3. Saaraa’s daughter Hannah has severe food allergies, and I asked if she would share her day to day experiences and what it’s like living with food allergies. This is Saaraa’s story.
Living With Food Allergies Resources
Faith
My resources at the time for my daughter was very limited, but my first is faith!
You just have to hold on to hope. It has helped me a lot when I felt so alone. When I felt that family, friends, schools didn’t understand how I was feeling. No matter what you believe in, hold on to what makes you feel safe and strong.
Family Support
Not every family member will understand, but there’s always a few. They are the ones who will be there for you when you need them the most.
The Internet
The internet is a big help. It has come a very long way. Eight years ago there was not much I could find. But now social media has a lot. One of my favorites is Kids with Food Allergies. It’s an amazing website. There are so many families talking about their experience. This site has helped me the most!
Whole Foods Market
Whole Foods is amazing it has so many products that not many places have. It’s definitely more expensive sometimes a bit EXCESSIVE, but it’s the only place I could get supplies for my kids.
Our Doctor
And my last resources is our allergist. You have to find the best Dr for your family. Ours is Dr. Mark Sicklick he’s AMAZING. We have been working with him for 7 years now, and I will not change anything about him.

UPDATED POST: THIS POST ORIGINALLY APPEARED ON MY FIRST BLOG FAITHFULLY ME, WHICH I HAVE REINVENTED INTO LIFE WITH KAMI.
Hi Saaraa,
I couldn’t help but tear up as I watched your video. I have three good friends that also deal with the same struggle- severe allergies to just about everything. You are an amazing mother and incredibly strong. I am sure a huge part of this is being mentally strong as well and I truly commend you. This is hard work. Your family is beautiful and I wish you the best. I also hope that one day your children will no longer have to deal with allergies.
Hi Saaraa,
So sorry to hear about your daughter and I can only imagine what your daily life is like. You are a very good mum and your doing very well taking care of your kids. I have a friend whose 14 mths old daughter has FPIES. She still breast feed her daughter as she is allergic to almost all kinds of food. Will keep you and your family in my prayers. Stay strong. xx
I have known Saaraa and Neil for many years. They are both amazing parents dedicated to their children. Saaraa you are so strong and your story will help many others. We love you all and we are here for you. Keep on going, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and you guys deserve nothing but the best.
Your story has left me in tears Saaraa. My heart goes out to you and your beautiful family and will keep you all in my prayers. When my daughter was born she was lactose intolerant. I watched her cry constantly in pain and had no clue until months later. I felt so helpless. I can’t imagine what you are going through but keep fighting and never give up hope. xxx
